A Pathway Invitation!
The Poets’ Pathway Committee is delighted to invite you to two plaque unveilings in September, as we honour Ottawa’s famous Nineteenth Century poets of the land, on our (green) land!
Please join us at these exciting events!
The unveiling of the first plaque on the Poets’ Pathway takes place
This plaque commemorates Archibald Lampman. There will be a brief ceremony at the entrance to McCarthy Woods, with speakers Maria McRae, Steven Artelle, John Sankey, Rhoda Bellamy and Clive Doucet, and a reception in the Seniors’ Room at the community centre.
The unveiling of the second plaque on the Pathway takes place
This plaque commemorates Pauline Johnson. There will be a brief ceremony at the shore near the pier. Speakers include Steven Artelle, Erwin Dreessen, Alex Cullen, and Chief of the Algonquin Nation, Claudette Commanda. Charlotte Gray will be attending! There will be a reception in the Atrium.
And
A third plaque will be unveiled shortly at Poet’s Hill in Beechwood Cemetery. We will let you know that date soon.
We couldn’t be happier. Please come and celebrate with us!
We are grateful to the City of Ottawa and to the Beechwood Cemetery Foundation for their help and support.
